Real-Time Next-Gen Turbulence Analysis and Reporting App and Data Service for Pilots and Dispatch Demo Webinar

Register to view this On-Demand Webinar (recorded 19th January 2023) to see a demo of SkyPath, the innovative and unique real-time turbulence analysis, and reporting Apps, as used by airlines worldwide such as United, American Airlines, El Al and jetBlue. As you will see, SkyPath can be used immediately, requiring no aircraft installation or certification, and is available in stand-alone Apps for pilots, dispatch and management with real-time en-route turbulence reports visualised graphically, as well as PIREPs, and important vocal and visual alerts warning of Turbulence ahead. SkyPath turbulence data can also be integrated, via next-gen APIs, into any existing flight deck EFB or Dispatch tool, such as a flight planning system. During the Webinar, you will see how SkyPath utilizes sensors (accelerometer) and GPS data, in-flight, from iPads and tablets from 1000s of flights to determine turbulence calibrated to the exact location and severity.  The data (SkyPath is currently used by 35,000 pilots, generating 42 million turbulence reports in the last 90 days) is transmitted in real-time from the air to a ground server where patented algorithms, noise filtering, aircraft type normalization and AI are used to create a real time, highly accurate, turbulence map.  The data layer is then distributed to SkyPath users, enabling airlines and crew members to ensure the safety of passengers and crew, and to enhance operational efficiency.  SkyPath can also be used by pilots in the flightdeck while offline and will automatically sync to receive the latest data or download report data to the server as soon as connectivity is realised.

During the Webinar SkyPath experts will take you on demos of the solution, firstly from a Pilot’s perspective for a typical flight using the flight deck App. Next you will see the Web version as used by dispatch to monitor each flight, and by management for incident analysis and to draw up analytics and reports such as most turbulent routes.  Finally, you will learn more about SkyPath, and the product road map, including predictive analytics.

The Webinar is divided into three key sections:

  • Full Overview of SkyPath; Industry Turbulence Problems; Product Road Map
First you will learn about the challenges facing the industry with increasing turbulence frequency which is forecast to further increase in the next few years and become more severe.  You will see how legacy tools for forecasting turbulence are inadequate and inaccurate with weather radar unable to detect Clear Air Turbulence.  You will also see how SkyPath was developed by pilots for pilots to overcome these problems, with pilots and airlines sharing the most accurate and real-time data to provide the most accurate en-route information available. SkyPath will outline how the solution works and look to future developments including predictive analytics.

  • SkyPath Demo 1: Pilot Demo Following Typical Flight using Flight Deck App
Next you will see a SkyPath demo from a pilot’s perspective following a typical flight. The demo will show you:
    – Automatically loading the flight plan into the App using the flight number.
    – How pilotsuse the vertical view of the flight along the planned route to show what Turbulence to expect during the flight.
    – How pilots receive real-time notifications regarding Turbulence ahead on their route, or receive PIREPs outlining weather.
    – How pilots can use the App to test the route at different altitudes for Turbulence or select all altitudes to see a full report.
    – Reports of weather phenomena along the route as PIREPs, including CB, lightning, wings, and more.

  • SkyPath Demo 2: Web Version for Dispatch and Management
Finally you will see a demo of the SkyPath Web version which provides tools for dispatch and management teams displaying the same powerful turbulence data.  As you will see, it can be used for flight-planning and real-time flight monitoring, as well as incident analysis, analytics and insight dashboards.  The demo will show:
    – Real-time monitoring: Dispatch can choose a flight from the moving map and click on the aircraft to show flight turbulence data.
    – Notifications: The dispatcher will receive turbulence notifications for any monitored flight.
    – Incident Analysis: Management can go back up to 90 days to analyse the data, learn more about an aircraft incident and view the turbulence data available at the time.
    – Analytics: Management can easily access reports and charts for their airline analysing the data, such as: pilot alerts and how many were acted upon by pilots, as well as most turbulent routes – including heat maps and more.

Register to view this On-Demand Webinar (recorded 1st December 2016) and see a full overview and as live demonstration of the hugely popular and unique Airport Database, from ACFT PERFO – part of the ADMS (Aviation Data Management Suite) Software Solution.  During the Webinar you will see how the Airport Database integrates with and greatly enhances any performance software; how it is continuosly updated 24/7; and how to design an Engine Failure Procedure and perform an EOSID analysis using ADMS.

The Webinar begins with the ACFT PERFO experts taking you on a tour of the key ADMS modules, focusing specifically on Airport Database, NOTAMS and Obstacles. You will see how the airport database is compliant with all existing formats (including all manufacturers’ EFB and performance software) and can be adapted to meet any specific demand.

As you will see during the demo, ADMS manages a comprehensive (16,500 major airports in the database with more than 3,500 in use by actual customers) worldwide airport database, compliant with all IR OPS and FAA regulations.  The database is constantly updated and is permanently available via EFB, tablet / iPad and the Web.  The demo will show you the live NOTAM watch functionality: should a NOTAM have an influence on performance, the Airport Database is updated and an automatic notification by email is sent to users.  Other key functionalities you will see includes: Airports / Runways description; obstacles impacting aircraft performance; airport related documents management; a worldwide obstacle airport database and sorted NOTAMS.

Next, using Santiago Airport as a case study, the ACFT PERFO experts, using the sophisticated tools provided by ADMS, will walk you through how to calculate an optimum Engine Failure Procedure, for each aircraft type and variant, and perform an EOSID analysis, based on:

  • The airport and runway data (runway length etc.)
  • The obstacles (from AIP, NOTAMS and other sources)
  • The limiting terrain
  • Visual design of the engine out route with VOR/DME, Navaids or other waypoints
  • Analysis of the engine out procedure for each aircraft type, based on its own characteristics (speed, wingspan, gradient loss, etc.) and on wind conditions
  • Extraction of limiting obstacles with calculation of height and distance for performance software.
  • For the EOSID analysis, all worldwide SIDs (Standard Instrument Departures) are imported and analyzed according to aircraft type specifications.  Then obstacle clearance points are calculated to give guidance to the EOSID analyst.  The goal is to detect automatically all non-penalizing SIDs and to provide a continuous watch based on AIRAC cycles.

During the Webinar you will see how a comprehensive, cost-effective, airport database with a state-of-the-art management program can deliver high quality, performance enhancing information to any airline, aircraft operator, OEM, airport manager and EFB user.

About the Aircraft IT Webinar Series:

Every 2 weeks the Aircraft IT website hosts a different live Webinar, each Webinar hosted by a different IT Vendor. These sessions represent the perfect opportunity to learn about a software solution in a more informal manner and to quickly gain an in-depth knowledge of all the major systems on the market, all from the comfort of your own office or home with no sales pressure.

The IT vendor provides a live software demonstration/masterclass of their solution and explains how it can benefit airlines, MROs, Operators, OEMs, Leasing Companies. Once logged on, online delegates can ask questions via the interactive sections of the Webinar or simply sit back and watch and listen to the demonstration. There are two sessions during the day, each differently times to accommodate all time zones.

Each Webinar session is recorded, and an On-Demand version is then posted back to the Aircraft IT website a few days after the live session to allow you to view the content again with your colleagues. The library of On-Demand Webinar recordings provides an invaluable reference source of MRO software demonstrations from the World’s leading MRO IT Vendors.
