The Webinar begins with a look at the challenges of rising turbulence before giving an overview of the solution.  You will see how, by collecting turbulence data from every aircraft equipped with the app on the pilot’s iPad (using a patented algorithm utilizing the iPad’s accelerometer), SkyPath autonomously maps the sky. The information is then shared with the whole SkyPath community using crowdsourcing technology.     For an airline that is operating with an on-time performance of 79.8%, airline management would normally focus on the 20.2% of the turns that result in a delay. However, ClearPort allows airlines to even see the processes that need attention during the turns but that do not reach the delay threshold. Airline’s often get caught in the trap of assuming that because a flight left on time, it therefore did not have issues that needed to be addressed. For off peak times, the load factor alone may allow an airline to get out on time even though processes are not followed according to standard. For example, most airlines do not look at bridge driving as something that can cause delays unless there is a significant bridge malfunction. Once an airline knows how long it takes for certain bridges to drive, it can now build that milestone into its turn and monitor its performance. Airlines can use this information as evidence to push the airport to improve the airport conditions. Airlines can also set a standard with 3rd party contractors on when certain processes, like water and lavs, need to occur. If these standards are not met, the airline can hold the contractor accountable even without an actual delay occurring.
