Register to view this On-Demand Webinar (recorded 11th April 2024) and join SkyPath as they demo the latest version of their innovative and unique real-time turbulence analysis, alerting, and reporting Apps, as used by airlines worldwide such as United, American Airlines, Japan Airlines, and more; with 70,000 pilots using the app, and generating 752 million turbulence reports, and 4 million Turbulence Alerts annually.  As you will see, SkyPath is a software only solution and does not require any aircraft integration. It is available in stand-alone Apps for pilots, dispatch, and management, or as an integrated layer in any EFB platform, providing real-time en-route, graphically visualized turbulence reports, as well as PIREPs, and vocal and text alerts warning of Turbulence ahead.  During the Webinar, SkyPath experts will take you on demos of the solution, firstly from a pilot’s perspective for a typical flight using the flight deck App; followed by the Web App as used by dispatch to monitor each flight, and by management for incident analysis, and to draw up analytics and reports.  The demos will also showcase the newest features in SkyPath (5.0). Firstly Nowcasting, a predictive AI / ML powered model utilizing real-time turbulence observations and meteorological parameters to predict short-term turbulence, for up to 6 hours, with a detection rate of more than 90%.  Next how pilots can report official PIREPs through the App which are transmitted directly to NOAA’s systems.  With rising Turbulence from global warming, as you will see, SkyPath offers vital insights to both Pilots and Dispatchers, providing real-time Turbulence data and Turbulence predictions, enabling immediate action.

The Webinar begins with a look at the challenges of rising turbulence before giving an overview of the solution.  You will see how, by collecting turbulence data from every aircraft equipped with the app on the pilot’s iPad (using a patented algorithm utilizing the iPad’s accelerometer), SkyPath autonomously maps the sky. The information is then shared with the whole SkyPath community using crowdsourcing technology. The solution additionally normalizes the turbulence data taking the airplane’s type into consideration (weight, wing length, etc.). As you will see, via case studies, SkyPath predicts 75% of turbulence-related injury events, and drives a 40-50% decrease in the number of injuries per month among SkyPath users.

The Webinar is divided into three key sections:

  1. Overview of SkyPath; Industry Turbulence Problems; Latest Developments
    First, the SkyPath team will outline the challenge of rising turbulence, which is forecast to further increase in the next few years and become more severe.  You will learn about the technology SkyPath is based on (using a patented algorithm utilizing the iPad’s accelerometer), before a look at the ecosystem of solutions, as stand-alone Apps for pilots, dispatch, and management, or as an integrated layer in any EFB platform. You will then see the latest developments and new features in Version 5.0, including Nowcasting, a predictive AI / ML powered model utilizing real-time turbulence observations and meteorological parameters to predict short-term turbulence. You will also see how pilots can report official PIREPs through the App.  Lastly the SkyPath team will provide a sneak peak of new capabilities they are working on.

  2. SkyPath Demo 1: Pilot App for Typical Flight
    Next, you will see a SkyPath demo from a pilot’s perspective following a typical flight.  You will see how Pilot’s use the App to upload a flight plan, get an overview of the flight ahead – through a ’ride quality’ feature and a vertical view of the entire flight path.  You will see how a pilot receives both vocal and text notification of turbulence ahead (even when the app is in the background), and you will see the different weather layers available through SkyPath and how to see the relevant weather information at different altitudes. Finally, the SkyPath team will demonstrate how to submit an official PIREP through the App.

  3. SkyPath Demo 2: Web App for Dispatch and Management
    Finally you will see a demo of the SkyPath Web App which provides tools for dispatch and management teams displaying the same powerful turbulence data. The demo will show how a dispatcher, using the SkyPath Web App, manages their own desk showing the flights they are responsible for.  You will see the value of the information SkyPath provides in route planning and flight monitoring and how a dispatcher receives notifications for upcoming turbulence in their flights’ routes.  For management you will see how easy it is to perform an incident analysis, going back up to 90 days to analyse data. Finally, you will see the important analytics options available for management analysing key data, such as pilot alerts and how many were acted upon by pilots, as well as the most turbulent routes – including heat maps and more.
