TAP Air Portugal opts for IT solutions from Lufthansa Systems

TAP Airbus A330neo

The third customer in 2019 successfully migrates its flight operations to our Operations Solution NetLine/Ops ++.

After many years of successful collaboration with TAP Air Portugal, the carrier has now successfully implemented our Operations Management Solutions NetLine/Ops ++ together with the Airport Slot Management Solution NetLine/Sched Short Term Mode. This will enable the airline to improve daily flight operations, continue to provide reliable services and contribute to enhancing the traveler experience.

TAP Air Portugal is the third airline, which migrates its operations to NetLine Ops ++ this year. The application monitors current flight operations and optimizes daily aircraft utilization. By implementing our solution, the carrier can react swiftly to flight irregularities and improve on-time performance through a more comprehensive overview of flight movement. It will also contribute to reducing operating costs for TAP Airlines and help to capitalize on staff productivity.

After the Flight Scheduling Solution NetLine/Sched was already implemented last year successfully, the Airport Slot Management add-on module NetLine/Sched Short Term Mode was successfully implemented simultaneously with the NetLine/Ops ++ cutover. In the Operations Control period Slot Management typically is just a necessity, which has to be done in a quick way without evaluating many alternatives. Therefore, a quick and easy way to generate and send SSIM chapter 6 slot messages is required. The NetLine/Sched Short Term Mode has been tailored to meet specific Operations Control requirements. It can be started directly from NetLine/Ops ++ and simplifies the process optimized for operational purposes.

“Carefully orchestrated by our collective project teams, the smooth and successful migration of NetLine/Sched Short Term Mode and NetLine/Ops ++,  was carried out in a timely and efficient manner, causing no disruptions to our airline services,” said Fábio Barros Director of Integrations Operations Control Centre of TAP Air Portugal, “The adoption of Lufthansa Systems’ solution contributes to our ongoing business success, as the application will provide our controllers with a complete overview of the status of flights and increase our network’s overall efficiency.”

TAP Air Portugal is the leading Portuguese airline, and a member of Star Alliance, the largest global alliance in the world since 2005. Operating since 1945, the TAP Network covers 90 destinations in 36 countries worldwide. Operating on average about 3,000 flights per week, TAP has a fleet of 106 aircraft. Pursuing customer-oriented guidance, TAP continually invests in innovation and the use of new technologies, offering high quality, safe and reliable products, and services.

Vistara takes off with AMOS

At a glance

  • Indian full-service carrier Vistara selects AMOS as prime MRO Software Solution
  • The AMOS footprint in India further increased
  • As an end-to-end MRO solution AMOS will assist Vistara in achieving their growth plans

Custom-tailored, two-phase implementation

Swiss-AS is pleased to announce that Vistara, a joint venture of TATA and Singapore Airlines, has selected AMOS as their end-to-end MRO software solution for its entire fleet of Airbus and Boeing aircraft. The airline recently inaugurated its international operations and aims to expand into geographies across the world as it inducts new aircraft from Airbus as well as Boeing. The state-of-the-art AMOS software solution supports their ambitious growth plans.

Vistara’s newly phased-in Boeing B737-800NG aircraft will be directly managed in AMOS. This project has a very special, non-standard set-up in order to efficiently support the airline’s requirements. The implementation will be split into two main phases: Phase one will focus on the B737 fleet into AMOS with a planned go-live as early as autumn 2019. The next phase foresees the transfer of the complete fleet including Airbus and future Boeing 787 Dreamliner into AMOS.

In-house AMOS experience expediting the implementation process

Ronald Schaeuffele, CEO of Swiss-AS, says, ”Vistara is a strategic, high-profile customer for us and we are honored to welcome them to the AMOS Community. India is a very important market for Swiss-AS ever since the first Indian customer signed for AMOS in the nineties and now, with Vistara on board, we further increase our footprint in India.”
Vistara has succeeded in hiring engineering and maintenance staff who are already familiar with AMOS. This in-house AMOS know-how will help Vistara accelerate the implementation and reduce the time devoted to training and the general familiarization process regarding AMOS. In addition, Vistara has skilled in-house resources able to manage the data migration process. This will facilitate the data upload of the newly arrived B737-800NG aircraft into AMOS.

With the selection of AMOS, Vistara will use a future-proof M&E software that ensures operational efficiencies in all maintenance areas and allows the airline to launch its digital transformation process.

Ravinder Pal Singh, Chief Information & Innovation Officer, Vistara, says, ”We have always embraced and invested in meaningful technologies that enable our growth plan and enhance differentiation for Vistara. We’re committed to our approach of digitalization of processes and lead innovation in Indian aviation. Our investment in AMOS will help us gain insights into our fleet’s engineering health, enhance productivity of resources and aircraft with greater mobility and information on fingertips. Overall, it will also be a key platform for continuous innovation in maintenance and overhaul of aircraft and its supply-chain.”

Sisira Kanta Dash, Senior Vice President – Engineering, Vistara, said, “AMOS will integrate our maintenance processes and provide us with the required commercial and operational flexibility across the fleet. We want to create a futurist engineering division of Vistara and this is one of the key steps in that direction.”

Lufthansa and Lufthansa Cargo take off with AMOS

At a glance

  • Lufthansa German Airlines and Lufthansa Cargo aircraft managed in AMOS  as of autumn 2020
  • Deployment of AMOS in a true tier-one environment
  • AMOScentral offering the airline group seamless collaboration

Implementation already ongoing

Swiss-AS herewith officially announces that Lufthansa German Airlines and Lufthansa Cargo are joining the AMOS community with a scheduled first Go-Live in autumn 2020 followed by two later cut-overs in 2021. The initiative will see both airlines and their entire fleets adopting AMOS, which is at the forefront of the Maintenance and Engineering software market.

Lufthansa German Airlines and Lufthansa will both benefit from the vast experience gathered by the Lufthansa group member airlines, Swiss International Air Lines, Austrian Airlines, Eurowings, Brussels Airlines and Lufthansa CityLine, with some of them using AMOS for almost 20 years.

After completing the in-depth Definition Phase including AMOS business process/interface workshops and the specification of comprehensive business requirements, the Lufthansa Executive Board has now approved the start of the project’s Implementation Phase. A highly skilled and dedicated team of Lufthansa German Airlines and Lufthansa Cargo aviation experts supported by Swiss-AS Consultants and Project Managers will guide the flag carrier through this next project phase. Both carriers will implement AMOS including AMOSmobile for its Line Maintenance and CAMO Operations, based on best practice processes already implemented within the group.

«With Lufthansa German Airlines we welcome a customer to our community which has decades of aviation experience and a strong focus on driving innovation for the entire group and industry», says Ronald Schaeuffele, CEO of Swiss Aviation Software. From the moment of cut-over, the line maintenance operations will be fully paperless by using AMOSmobile. This will, in part, be realised by interfacing AMOS with Lufthansa’s Electronic Techlog Solution ensuring the status of the entire passenger fleet is live and fully accessible throughout AMOS at all times.

Fabiano Faccoli, COO of Swiss-AS, adds: «Swiss Aviation Software provides to its customers deep industry insight and knowledge, valuable project management experience and the necessary skillsets for complex digital transformation projects. Our customers are the key success factor in our agile development approach during and after implementation, since the customers form part of the development process from early requirement specification through testing to final product delivery».

“AMOS, which is already used as a standard tool by many LH group airlines, will also help us at Lufthansa to make our Technical Fleet Management processes even more transparent and, above all, even more efficient. Among other things, we are relying on the already very broad AMOS know-how of our sister companies. We chose AMOS because of its 30 years of success in the industry, but also because of its continuous product innovations, which help us to establish state-of-the-art processes in Technical Fleet Management at Lufthansa as well.” says Klaus Froese, CEO Lufthansa German Airlines Hub Frankfurt.

Bytron flies into new Hull office

14th November 2019

We’re pleased to announce that we are well on the way to almost doubling the size of our team as we successfully completed the expansion into our second office.

Based at The Deep Business Centre in Hull, the new office is now up and running and we are on the lookout for even more talent to join our existing team as we prepare for further growth.

Shane Spencer, Managing Director said: “The move to Hull has been great for the business and due to continued success, we’re recruiting again as we’ve created some brand new roles. We’re looking for talented, committed people to join our team supporting new contracts and to help with our plans for growth over the next few years.”

Our sister company Keyzo was founded by Shane in 2009 to provide next generation software for a range of business sectors, and it has become a leader in supplying human resources and health and safety software solutions.

In 2014, the company moved into the aviation industry with the acquisition of Bytron Aviation Systems. Shane brought both businesses together at the Head Offices in Kirmington, near to Humberside International Airport.

Now in our 35th year, we’re going from strength to strength with our award winning software, skybook – a fully-integrated flight dispatch, crew briefing and Electronic Flight Bag system.

Meanwhile, Keyzo has developed its HR and Health and Safety software range which includes induct&train, read&sign and staffportal.

We announced our expansion at the beginning of 2019 as we began a drive to add to the existing team of thirty as part of the development of skybook.

Shane said: “The response to our recruitment campaign was so positive that we took the decision to expand even further across the business. The new staff have been fully trained up at our head office over the last three months and are doing a fantastic job.

“The new recruits are a mix of graduates who have come straight from university and others are experienced professionals.”

Simon Clayton, the company’s Technical Director, added: We are up to over forty staff overall and we now have more roles available in Hull and Kirmington with immediate effect. We’re looking for QA Software Testers and IT Support Engineers and in the coming months could double the size of our team compared with April.

“Opening the Hull office will make it easier for us to expand because of the nature and the location of The Deep Business Centre and the availability in the local area of the skills we need. The move has gone very well and the staff at The Deep have been excellent, supporting us every step of the way.”

Freya Cross, Head of Business and Corporate at The Deep, said: “We specialise in providing flexible space and standing ready to support expanding businesses when they need us.

“We are delighted that Keyzo’s expansion to Hull is already proving to be a success. We know from experience that there is a great deal of expertise in the region’s technology sector and we look forward to helping Keyzo as they add to the opportunities available.”
