Register to attend this Webinar and join Azul’s flight operations team as they take you inside the project showing how they used a fully data-driven approach powered by AI-Driven technology (SkyBreathe® Analytics from OpenAirlines) to audit existing ATC procedures and flight charts at Viracopos Airport in Sao Paulo, to identify inefficiencies, and to drive measurable fuel savings by optimizing approach procedures, resulting in saving of 1.5M liters of fuel. The Azul team will also walk you through how they were able to analyze the raw FDR data from over 9 million flights utilizing the new SkyBreathe® Custom Flight Indicators module and, with no coding needed, study in detail all TMA procedures, providing the team with the flexibility to dig deeper and build a stronger case for operational change. During the Webinar you will see detailed analysis of each step to improve flight paths and ATC efficiency across São Paulo operations, with STAR and SID procedure modifications, ultimately delivering a drop in average weighted fuel burn from 127 kg to 70 kg on the UTLOT procedure, 31.88 kg saved per flight on the new ENTIT1A STAR, monthly time savings of 55 hours on departures and 100 hours on arrivals, and more. Finally, you will learn how the team plan to roll out the same detailed analysis per leg and per waypoint, to identify further savings and initial TMA optimization at secondary hubs at Belo Horizonte and Rio de Janeiro.
Next the OpenAirlines team will walk you through a demo of the brand-new SkyBreathe® Custom Flight Indicators module – a powerful, user-defined flight event detection feature that gives flight operations teams the flexibility to dig deeper and build advanced, operation-specific analytics with full autonomy, and with no-coding needed. You will see how teams can quickly unlock the full power of FDR data with a fully customizable interface, define their own metrics, and run advanced studies across thousands of flights to surface savings they didn’t know were there. Detailed analyses include: creating custom advanced flight events and indicators from FDR data; running studies across other SkyBreathe® modules, like the Query Editor and Maps; discovering how much fuel and CO₂ was saved during specific procedures; and more.

Professional with a strong background in aviation engineering, fuel efficiency, and financial planning, currently serving as Fuel Efficiency Engineering Coordinator at Azul Linhas Aéreas, leading operational optimization, transport management, and data‑driven fuel optimization initiatives. Has spearheaded initiatives to optimize fuel consumption and reduce costs, like the APU Zero best practice, leading a team that delivers up to 500 million reais of savings per year. Holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering and is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s in Statistics.

With a background in aerospace engineering and a specialization in data science, Louis first applied his expertise in the airline industry at Air France before joining OpenAirlines’ Science team in 2020. He has since transitioned to product management, bringing his technical depth and operational understanding to shape the analytics capabilities that help airlines optimize fuel efficiency and reduce emissions.

There are two sessions during the day, each differently times to accommodate all time zones.
Each Webinar session is recorded, and an On-Demand version is then posted back to the Aircraft IT website a few days after the live session to allow you to view the content again with your colleagues.
