Webinar Overview

Register to view this On-Demand Webinar (recorded 11th March 2021) and join the aviation weather experts at Weathernews as they walk you through their end-to-end intelligent aviation weather solutions and services developed for dispatch, pilots and flight operations staff to increase operational awareness, support decision making and ensure safety with maximum efficiency and lower costs (such as through avoiding costly diversions, and saving on unnecessary extra fuel) for all phases of flight, including areas where there is no or limited weather information.  As you will see the solutions are customized to each airlines’ unique weather-related needs and challenges such as landing minimums and operational policies, and are currently used to support over 13,000 flights daily and monitor 350 airports worldwide. Airlines can choose the full suite of services and solutions or design their own system, by selecting only those that match their requirements, or selecting specific solutions to integrate with their existing infrastructure.

The Webinar begins with a look at the challenges airlines are facing during the pandemic and how Weathernews are assisting their customers by providing a full weather support service.  As you will see the Weathernews aviation meteorologists continuously monitor the forecasts and together with the Risk Communicators team, provide daily weather briefings and updates to airlines allowing dispatchers and operations teams to focus on flying the aircraft during these challenging times; also to provide high-quality weather data so that airlines can make more precise fuel load decisions, thereby avoiding unnecessary fuel, and so that dispatch are able to plan a more efficient and safer route to avoid any significant weather. Then you will see how the solutions seamlessly integrate with existing systems with a look at high-quality weather data integration into existing Flight Planning systems, providing operations teams with the tools needed to optimize the route ahead of take-off.

Next you will see demos of two solutions designed to assist dispatch and pilots.  First, Go or No-Go, providing hourly updated forecasts for the destination airport, colour-coded for easy reference to highlight any potential problems with the airline’s weather-specific landing minimums.  Then you will see a demo of the En-Route Optimisation Support (EOS) solution which provides alerts to severe weather en-route (including Turbulence, Icing and Convection) in a real-time graphical display and suggests different Flight Levels and optimum route to dispatch. Finally, via a Japan Airlines case study, you will see how Weathernews collaborates directly with their customers to develop bespoke airline specific solutions leading to cost savings and increases in efficiency.

The Webinar is divided into four key sections:

  1. Weathernews Solutions and Services Overview and Industry Challenges
The Webinar begins with Weathernews experts sharing an overview of their end-to-end high-quality weather data services and solutions and how they are assisting their airline customers with the current challenges facing the industry.  You will be shown how the Weathernews aviation meteorologists continuously monitor the forecasts and work with the Risk Communicators team to provide airlines with daily weather briefings and updates, allowing dispatchers and operations teams, during these challenging times, to focus on flying the aircraft, and to provide high-quality weather data, supporting more precise fuel load decisions by airlines, thereby avoiding unnecessary fuel, and enabling dispatch are able to plan a more efficient and safer route, avoiding any significant weather.

  2. Weather Data Integration into Flight Planning systems
Weathernews has over 30 years of experience in supporting airlines with various weather-related challenges.  This section of the Webinar shows how the Weathernews data integration solution provides airlines with the possibility to integrate high-quality weather forecast data integrated into their current or future Flight Planning systems. As you will see, this solution allows the operations team to continue to use familiar flight planning systems, but with integrated high-quality weather data that allows them to optimise flight routes ahead of take-off.

  3. System Demos: Go or No-Go Decision Support (GONG); En-Route Optimization Support (EOS)
Next you will see demos of two popular Weathernews solutions designed to assist dispatch and pilots. As you will see GONG provides hourly weather forecasts for destination airports in consideration of each airline’s weather-specific landing minimums; a colour-coded index highlights potential problems to dispatch. Then you will see a demo of EOS.  As you will see, if severe weather conditions are expected along the route, EOS will alert and provide support to determine the optimum route to flight dispatch. The real-time graphical display shows current meteorological en-route weather conditions including Turbulence, Icing and Convection and suggests flight levels to optimize efficiency.

  4. Japan Airlines Case Study: Joint Development Solutions
Each region and airlines have different weather needs and challenges.  With more than 30 years of experience in supporting and servicing airlines Weathernews uses this expertise to work closely with airlines to develop bespoke solutions that meet these needs and challenges using high-quality weather data and leading to cost and efficiency savings.  Japan Airlines outline a recent project with Weathernews and discuss the challenges for and benefits of their jointly developed solution.

About the Aircraft IT Webinar Series:
Every 2 weeks the Aircraft IT website hosts a different live Webinar, each Webinar hosted by a different IT Vendor.  These sessions represent the perfect opportunity to learn about a software solution in a more informal manner and to quickly gain an in-depth knowledge of all the major systems on the market, all from the comfort of your own office or home with no sales pressure.

The IT vendor provides a live software demonstration/masterclass of their solution and explains how it can benefit airlines, MROs, Operators, OEMs, Leasing Companies.  Once logged on, online delegates can ask questions via the interactive sections of the Webinar or simply sit back and watch and listen to the demonstration.  There are two sessions during the day, each differently times to accommodate all time zones.

Each Webinar session is recorded, and an On-Demand version is then posted back to the Aircraft IT website a few days after the live session to allow you to view the content again with your colleagues.  The library of On-Demand Webinar recordings provides an invaluable reference source of Flight Ops software demonstrations from the World’s leading Flight Ops IT Vendors.
