MRX Systems software updates for 2022

An opportunity to look forward to MRX Systems’ future comes with the rise of a new year. The whole team gathered to exchange ideas of what MRX Systems should become in the forthcoming years. This creative assembly gave them the chance to determine their roadmap.

Blue OPS Finalization
The fully integrated operations management platform is almost ready-to-ship! While the developers’ team is fine-tuning the last features and modules with hand-picked customers, they are now implementing suggestions collected to further adjust our product to be fitting our customers’ needs.

Full-Training Platform
Getting new team members on board and teaching them how to use new software is a universal challenge faced by all organizations. That being said, not only new users need training, anyone in a team might benefit from tips and tricks from time to time, even the most advanced users. MRX Systems is working on building a full-training platform with tutorials videos, technical documentation, and extensive training material. This platform will come to enhance the user experience, completing the work of the support team.

RFID Implementation
Going paperless is one of MRX Systems’ core values, digitalizing operations and offering a connected environment with comprehensive data. On this path to paperless, the brand chose to take a step further and start integrating RFID into Blue STOK and Blue MRO. Beyond removing paper labels with printed QR codes, RFID will also drastically accelerate and ease users’ operations who will benefit from an always up-to-date database that requires even less human input.

Connection to Manufacturers Portal
Transferring data from new aircraft to an Airworthiness Management software represents a huge workload and a great investment in time. Working hand in hand with manufacturers, MRX Systems aims to strengthen our position and build up new partnerships to automate aircraft introductions. This connection to the manufacturers’ portal will enable the direct transfer of maintenance data into Blue EYE and therefore significantly reduce the struggle of growing a fleet

Norse Atlantic Airways takes off with AMOS

At a glance

–    AMOS Airline Edition to support single-type fleet of 15 B787
–    Early trust in AMOS to achieve AOC
–    AMOSmobile/EXEC and cloud-hosting services selected

Norse puts early confidence in AMOS

After a five-month selection process, Norse Atlantic Airways, a new low-fare long-haul airline based in Norway, has decided for AMOS in autumn 2021. The evaluation of a maintenance and engineering software was part of Norse’s business fundamentals and they started their discussions with Swiss-AS very early in their start-up phase, putting their confidence and trust in Swiss-AS that AMOS will support them in getting their brand new airline off the ground
The very lean project is already well underway and the Swiss-AS project team is assisting Norse in setting up their processes. The aim is to adopt what has emerged as “best practice” as a result of the experience of more than 190 preceding successful AMOS implementations. The Swiss-AS project team is now pressing ahead to complete the data transfer for Norse.
Norse Atlantic Airways’ goal is to manage a single-type fleet of all B787 aircraft in AMOS. The go-live –will include the full range of AMOS Airline modules and will enable Norse to exploit the advanced functionality for which AMOS is highly valued by its loyal customer base.
The first flights are expected to take off in spring of 2022.

“AMOS will provide us with a state-of-the-art airworthiness management system that will ensure an efficient and more sustainable operation. The digital and paperless system will enable Norse to operate according to the highest safety standards as well as ensuring on-time performance and a lower carbon footprint”

Chief Operating Officer of Norse, Thom-Arne Norheim

Optimising value by opting for AMOSmobile/EXEC and cloud hosting

Norse has decided for the touch-optimised add-on AMOSmobile/EXEC with the objective to build their paperless line and base maintenance processes within AMOS, digitise their business and add value not only in terms of costs, but also in terms of time, thereby ensuring high productivity whilst maintaining quality, safety and consistency. When deploying AMOSmobile/EXEC, the paperless processes add additional value to the business as technicians no longer need to return to a workstation during their shift to record their actions, raise findings and receive notifications of work assignments.
By choosing the cloud-based option including the proven AMOS Operation Services, Norse – as a start-up airline – will furthermore profit from an attractive and cost effective service, as they do not have to operate and maintain their own technical infrastructure. In addition, Norse benefits from a flexible set-up that can be easily adapted to the company’s future needs.

About Norse

Norse Atlantic Airways is a new airline that will offer affordable fares on long-haul flights, primarily between Europe and the United States. The company was founded by CEO and major shareholder Bjørn Tore Larsen in March 2021. Norse has a fleet of 15 modern, fuel-efficient and more environmentally friendly Boeing 787 Dreamliners that will serve destinations including New York, Florida, Paris, London and Oslo, among others. First flights are expected to take off in spring 2022.

About Swiss AviationSoftware and AMOS

NAVBLUE launches Electronic Terrain and Obstacles Database (eTOD) to enhance safety and increase flight efficiency

⎯ Helping Airports and ANSPs to deliver high quality information to enhance safety and increase flight efficiency
⎯ Data supplied by State Aeronautical Information Services

Combining years of experience manipulating Digital Elevation Models (DEM) and collecting obstacle data for its flight procedure design activities, NAVBLUE leverages Airbus Defence & Space assets to deliver electronic Terrain & Obstacle Data: eTOD.

NAVBLUE’s eTOD helps Airports and Air Navigation Service Providers to deliver high quality information to operators and other stakeholders in order to enhance safety and increase efficiency of flights.

As per International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) and European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) guidance, eTOD shall be provided by State Aeronautical Information Services (AIS). eTOD supports a wide range of aviation applications, such as:

• Determination of contingency procedures for use in the event of an emergency during a missed
approach or take-off ;
• Aircraft operating limitations analysis ;
• Instrument flight procedure design ;
• Determination of en-route “drift down” procedures and en-route emergency landing location ;
• Transition from AIS to AIM (Aeronautical chart production and on-board databases)
• Flight simulators ;
• Unmanned Aerodromes Synthetic Vision ;
• Aerodrome / Heliport Obstacle restriction and removal.

NAVBLUE uses state of the art data capture and production capability to deliver eTOD for Areas 1
to 4, meeting the ICAO Annex 15 definition describing the areas and requirements for accuracy
and resolution. Area 1 is the entire country, Area 2abcd is the vicinity around the airport, Area 3 is the area around
the runways and taxiways and Area 4 the small area at the end of the runway when using ILS CAT
II or III W .

NAVBLUE will benefit from in-house access to Pléiades high-resolution optical Earth observation satellite and other optical or radar satellite sensors operated by Airbus Defence & Space. Airbus new Pléiades Neo constellation of four optical satellites, two of which are already operational and two to be launched mid-2022, provide high-quality images at 30cm resolution and will improve obstacle detection.

With Airbus Defence & Space, our expert photogrammetrists use proprietary tools to extract eTOD data from the stereo satellite imagery, complemented by on-site data survey and drone capture when necessary, to achieve the completeness, accuracy and resolution required for each of the Areas.

The typical eTOD deliverable for Obstacles is a database in Aeronautical Information Exchange Model (AIXM) or .shp format, or similar; and Terrain in Elevation Grid format. This can then be made available to the aviation community through the State Aeronautical Information Publications (AIPs).

NAVBLUE have already been using eTOD for several projects for airports such as Tivat Airport, Montenegro (IATA: TIV, ICAO: LYTV) and major Terminal Manoeuvring Area (TMA) redesigns in Latin America. NAVBLUE can also meet additional customer needs such as eTOD monitoring, Obstacle Limitation Surface (OLS), orthoimagery and Airport Mapping database (AMDB).
