Webinar Overview

*This On-Demand Webinar is for airlines and aircraft operators only

Register to view this On-Demand Webinar (recorded 2nd December 2021) to see a full overview and demo of AVTECH’s suite of services and Apps designed to build or complement an airlines’ sustainability story, utilizing existing technology and data links and leading to potential fuel and CO2 savings of up to 5% for each flight. During the Webinar, you will see demos of each solution, all providing real-time data to the pilots or ground crew to optimize the efficiency of all stages of each flight. The solutions you will see include: ClearPath for flight path / profile optimization; ProFlight the EFB pilot, weather and flight optimization App; SIGMA for weather hazards notifications including turbulence, winds, etc.; and Avenutus for optimized wind data uplink via FMC. As you will see, the solutions and Apps, powered by the UK Met Office’s industry leading high-resolution global weather model and combined with next-gen algorithms, require no aircraft hardware investments, and use existing data links (ACARS, ARINC, FMS, etc.) ensuring integration is easy and seamless for all airlines and aircraft operators of all fleet types worldwide; the result is direct savings from day 1 of implementation. Additionally, the solutions share data ensuring that communication between the aircraft and ground system is kept to a minimum.

The Webinar begins with an overview of AVTECH and their suite of services and Apps, along with a look at the connection with the Met Office’s industry leading 10k global high-resolution weather. You will see how the solutions and apps combine to optimize the efficiency of each flight, from planning until landing. You will then see demos of each solution and App:

  1. ClearPath: Real-Time Flight Path / Profile Optimization
First AVTECH experts will walk you through a demo of ClearPath from a pilot’s perspective for a typical flight. You will see how the solution delivers, in real-time, the key profile data and automatic reporting to the flight deck via an EFB device or simply via the cockpit printer or display, providing pilots with the information they need to optimize in-flight step-climb/decent for the greatest efficiency gains. A Norwegian case study will show that ClearPath has the potential to save up to 2% of cruise fuel. The case study will show example flights, the results and an overview of the total benefits.

  2. Aventus: Real-Time Automatic Optimized Wind Data Uplink
Next you will see a demo of Aventus which up-links precise wind and temperature data to the aircraft to improve FMC calculations during climb, cruise and decent. As you will see Aventus calculates the optimal wind levels to be inserted to best represent the current climb, cruise and descent wind profile for each flight for optimum efficiency and significant fuel saving. The up-links can be sent directly to the FMC or as a text message to the cockpit. Again, you will see airline case studies and how other airlines are benefiting from using the solution.

  3. SIGMA: Real-Time Weather Hazards Notifications In-flight
Next you will see a demo of SIGMA that provides high-resolution turbulence data and SIGMET weather hazards such as Icing, Thunderstorms, Volcanic Ash, etc. to the pilots in the cockpit. As you will see SIGMA keeps track of the aircraft position and 4D-trajectory to provide tactical updates on meteorological hazards related to the actual route in the FMS. This means SIGMA will automatically pick up changes to the route and present relevant weather along the flight path. As you will see the solution pushes automatic alerts directly to the flight deck, presenting pilot friendly information via FMS and providing effective decision support to avoid turbulence areas while reducing pilot workload. As with the other solutions, it can be deployed on any ACARS equipped aircraft with no additional software to install or monitor.

  4. ProFlight: Pilot EFB Weather and Flight Optimization App
Finally, you will see a demo of AVTECH’s popular Pilot EFB App: ProFlight, which effectively combines AVTECH’s other solutions to provide a unique real-time decision support tool for pilots. ProFlight provides a multi-layered, highly accurate real-time weather and flight path optimization solution which can be updated at any time during flight preparation or in flight. As you will see, the App provides pilots with all required weather-related information, from significant weather charts, SIGMETS and station information, derived from 10K high resolution weather, such as turbulence and winds along the flight plan route, letting them track bad weather and decide whether to re-route the flight or optimize trajectory based on winds. If Turbulence is encountered, the crew have the best information possible for the climb / descent decision.

About the Aircraft IT Webinar Series:
Every 2 weeks the Aircraft IT website hosts a different live Webinar, each Webinar hosted by a different IT Vendor.  These sessions represent the perfect opportunity to learn about a software solution in a more informal manner and to quickly gain an in-depth knowledge of all the major systems on the market, all from the comfort of your own office or home with no sales pressure.

The IT vendor provides a live software demonstration/masterclass of their solution and explains how it can benefit airlines, MROs, Operators, OEMs, Leasing Companies.  Once logged on, online delegates can ask questions via the interactive sections of the Webinar or simply sit back and watch and listen to the demonstration.  There are two sessions during the day, each differently times to accommodate all time zones.

Each Webinar session is recorded, and an On-Demand version is then posted back to the Aircraft IT website a few days after the live session to allow you to view the content again with your colleagues.  The library of On-Demand Webinar recordings provides an invaluable reference source of Flight Ops software demonstrations from the World’s leading Flight Ops IT Vendors.
