Webinar Overview

*This Webinar is for airlines, aircraft operators, and aviation authorities only

Register to view this On-Demand Webinar (recorded 15th June 2023) and join the aviation weather experts at Weathernews Inc. as they walk you through their latest new-generation suite of weather solutions and services developed to provide innovative tools and apps to key airline personnel (pilots, dispatch, flight ops control), covering all phases of each flight.  The aviation industry must contend with ongoing risks of extreme weather events, now exacerbated by climate change. Costs associated with turbulence encounters, delays, reroutes and reduced flight efficiency caused by storms, tropical cyclones and volcanic ash are significant and present ongoing challenges for airlines.  In this Webinar, Weathernews Inc will demo new and innovative solutions that are currently supporting over 13,000 flights every day and monitoring over 350 airports worldwide, providing airlines with the tools they need to ‘weather the storm’ and build resilience.  Solutions you will see include: the new Weather Impact on Flight Ops Forecast tool that predicts the impact of weather on airport traffic and aerospace congestion, and allows airlines to optimize flight routes plus reduce extra fuel costs at the flight planning stage; the new High Resolution Turbulence product currently under development as well as the new High Resolution Convection and Cb top Forecast product; Flight Operations Control Support tool to support for ground handling, aircraft mooring and evacuations with special long-range tropical cyclone support; Flight Plan Editor, for high-quality, weather forecast data integrated into existing flight plan editor tool. Lastly you will see the Weathernews Inc. API services which allows airlines to integrate the unique propriety weather content into exiting solutions.

During the Webinar you will see demos of the following solutions:

  • Flight Operation Control Support: IROPS Contingency Planning, Tropical Cyclone Tracking
As you will see this solution provides airlines with the tools to mitigate the impact of Tropical Cyclone winds well in advance with this long-range specialized content.

Based on the Weathernews proprietary tropical cyclone track forecast, Flight Operation Support provides specialized content 3-4 days in advance to support Ground Handling staff safety, and aircraft mooring decisions to mitigate expected damage from the winds of an approaching Tropical Cyclone.  In addition, IROPS contingency planning can also be supported with the long-range forecast content.

  • Weather Impact on Flight Operation Forecast: Weather Impact on Airport Traffic and Airspace Congestion at the Flight Planning Stage
Next you will see a new solution designed to anticipate the impact of weather on airport traffic and airspace congestion with content provided at the flight planning stage.
Built In collaboration with US based partner AvMet Applications, a recognized leader in aviation weather and functional analysis of air traffic operations, you will see how this specialized content predicts the impact of weather on airport traffic and aerospace congestion which can allow airlines to optimize flight routes and reduce extra fuel costs at the flight planning stage.  The content is available on a browser-based platform which will be demonstrated.

  • WNI High Resolution Turbulence Product: Clear Air, Mountain Wave, Convectively Induced
Next you will see the Clear Air Turbulence, Mountain Wave Turbulence and Convectively Induced Turbulence wrapped into the all-new High-Resolution Turbulence forecast and verified with EDR observations.  This new product has worldwide coverage and has also been verified extensively with EDR observations.  The new content is scheduled for release soon and is also available on API service.

  • WNI High Resolution Convection Product: High-Res Convection & Cb Top Forecast
Next you will see the new High-Resolution Convection and Cb Top forecast Product with worldwide coverage. The High-Resolution Convection Forecast is currently utilized in the collaboration project with AvMet Applications which is verified on a continuous basis. This content is now available via the API service for airlines who would like to integrate additional weather layers into their existing systems.

  • Flight Plan Editor: High-Quality Weather Data Integrated into existing Flight Route Editor Tool
Finally you will see this simple yet powerful solution that allows users to analyze en-route weather and volcanic ash efficiently and parse a flight route: it features horizontal and vertical cross section display functionality

About the Aircraft IT Webinar Series:

Every 2 weeks the Aircraft IT website hosts a different live Webinar, each Webinar hosted by a different IT Vendor. These sessions represent the perfect opportunity to learn about a software solution in a more informal manner and to quickly gain an in-depth knowledge of all the major systems on the market, all from the comfort of your own office or home with no sales pressure.

The IT vendor provides a live software demonstration/masterclass of their solution and explains how it can benefit airlines, MROs, Operators, OEMs, Leasing Companies. Once logged on, online delegates can ask questions via the interactive sections of the Webinar or simply sit back and watch and listen to the demonstration. There are two sessions during the day, each differently times to accommodate all time zones.

Each Webinar session is recorded, and an On-Demand version is then posted back to the Aircraft IT website a few days after the live session to allow you to view the content again with your colleagues. The library of On-Demand Webinar recordings provides an invaluable reference source of Flight Operations software demonstrations from the World’s leading Flight Operations IT Vendors.
