*This Webinar is for airlines and aircraft operators only…
Register to attend this Webinar and discover how Icelandair has adopted an AI-powered data-driven strategy to build on a solid foundation of fuel efficiency and drive a further 247% fuel savings during the past 12 months. During the Webinar you will see how Icelandair shifted from setting fuel efficiency foundations to a fully data-driven approach using cutting-edge AI-Powered technology (SkyBreathe® from OpenAirlines) to uncover new savings opportunities such as optimizing alternate fuel planning, delayed APU start, improving zero fuel weight for better calculations, tracking APU on-ground, maximizing engagement on single engine taxi out, and more. You will also learn how establishing a Flight Product Team within Icelandair, to drive fuel initiatives and operational improvement, crucially strengthened collaboration throughout the airline. Helga Thordersen, Program Manager Fuel Efficiency at Icelandair will walk you through the key processes and showcase how the airline leverages SkyBreathe® Analytics to track progress, gain actionable insights, and turn operational data into measurable performance improvements.
Finally, you will see how Icelandair improved pilot engagement via the easy-to-use SkyBreathe® MyFuelCoach mobile App. OpenAirlines experts will show a full demo showcasing key features and new developments. You will see how pilots can analyze a full debrief of their fuel efficiency performance after each flight, showing what they have done well and what could be improved for the next flight. Detailed analysis includes: 4D flight plan analytics to identify potential savings; how much fuel and CO2 was saved during the flight; progress tracking; and more. MyFuelCoach also provides pilots with accurate fuel saving info for pre-flight briefings based on the exact flight conditions.

Fuel efficiency has been a strategic focus at Icelandair for quite some time. After building a strong operational foundation, the airline accelerated its efforts by identifying and acting on remaining opportunities, including: launching targeted, data-driven fuel initiatives to improve operational performance while leveraging SkyBreathe®, their AI-powered fuel monitoring and analysis tool.
In this session, you will learn how Icelandair is turning data into action, identifying new savings opportunities, improving performance, and delivering measurable results.
The Webinar is divided into the following key sections:
- Icelandair’s strategy to go the extra mile in its fuel efficiency program shifting from setting foundations to a fully data-driven approach using cutting-edge technology to uncover new savings opportunities. You will learn how:
– Over the years, Icelandair has laid a solid foundation on fuel efficiency through different initiatives, starting with defining sustainability goals, fleet modernization, and operational optimization strategies.
– Last year, the airline shifted its focus to go the extra mile by identifying and acting on remaining fuel-saving opportunities with SkyBreathe®.
– Several new fuel-saving initiatives were launched to improve operational performance.
– Establishing a Flight Product Team to drive fuel initiatives and operational improvement strengthens collaboration among the airline.
- Discover how Icelandair leverages SkyBreathe® Analytics to track progress, gain actionable insights, and turn operational data into measurable performance improvements through real use cases and results:
– Monitoring Cost index 0 to Alternate with SkyBreathe® custom query
– Maximizing engagement on Single Engine Taxi Out by sharing valuable data.
– Optimizing and monitoring Alternate Fuel Planning.
– Delayed APU Start B737MAX implementation based on SkyBreathe®’s savings estimation.
– Improving Zero Fuel Weight Error after discovering an opportunity using SkyBreathe®’s Benchmark module data.
– Improving pilot engagement through SkyBreathe® MyFuelCoach Monthly Snapshot.
– Tracking APU On-Ground to pinpoint underperforming airports.
- A live demonstration of SkyBreathe® MyFuelCoach’s latest features and how this easy-to-use mobile application can help airlines boost pilot engagement. The demo will walk through the App’s key features and modules:
– The brand new SkyBreathe® MyFuelCoach Journal module (welcome page), including a personal overview, key notifications, and insightful operational metrics to engage pilots at first sight.
– SkyBreathe® MyFuelCoach Briefing module: where pilots can find all the info they need to picture what could be possible, in terms of fuel efficiency in the foreseeable conditions that pilots are about to operate, either in the form of figures or maps.
– SkyBreathe® MyFuelCoach Flights module: where pilots can see an overview of their fuel efficiency performance and access an interactive four-dimensional map to replay their flight with cockpit indicators.
– SkyBreathe® MyFuelCoach Achievements module: where pilots can monitor their fuel efficiency progress over time and identify where to realistically improve.

About the Aircraft IT Webinar Series:
Every 2 weeks the Aircraft IT website hosts a different live Webinar, each Webinar hosted by a different IT Vendor. These sessions represent the perfect opportunity to learn about a software solution in a more informal manner and to quickly gain an in-depth knowledge of all the major systems on the market, all from the comfort of your own office or home with no sales pressure.
The IT vendor provides a live software demonstration/masterclass of their solution and explains how it can benefit airlines, MROs, Operators, OEMs, Leasing Companies. Once logged on, online delegates can ask questions via the interactive sections of the Webinar or simply sit back and watch and listen to the demonstration. There are two sessions during the day, each differently times to accommodate all time zones.
Each Webinar session is recorded, and an On-Demand version is then posted back to the Aircraft IT website a few days after the live session to allow you to view the content again with your colleagues. The library of On-Demand Webinar recordings provides an invaluable reference source of Flight Operations software demonstrations from the World’s leading Flight Operations IT Vendors.
