Webinar Overview

Register to attend this Webinar, and join GE Aerospace, Software as a Service, as they demo how their popular FlightPulse EFB Pilot App, unlocks and consolidates disparate, and historical data to provide pilots with the relevant flight data they need to optimize fuel, efficiency, and safety ahead of each flight; plus, securely review their own flight performance after arrival. As you will see, FlightPulse, developed by pilots for pilots, and used by more than 50,000 pilots worldwide, is fully configurable so that each airline can ensure pilots receive the content and data that aligns with their key initiatives, and policies, while each pilot’s individual flight data remains secure and private on their EFB device. The demo will follow a pilot’s workflow for a typical flight, from flight preparation through to flight assessment. Before a flight, pilots use aggregated historical operational data to better understand routes and conditions, prepare for new or unfamiliar airports, and support pre-flight planning and operational decision making such as, loading the optimal fuel, anticipating likely ATC instructions for a more efficient route and likely weather; plus understand common threats and events, such as risk of tail strike during take-off, potential cross winds or hard landings, and more.  After the flight, pilots receive private and secure access to their individual flight history, allowing them to review their own performance, analyze relevant flight parameters, compare their performance with anonymized peer statistics, and identify opportunities where company efficiency opportunities were missed, such as single-engine taxi to save fuel, or deviations from planned routes.

The GE Aerospace SaaS team will also demo how FlightPulse provides pilots with additional context around what occurred during a flight and, most importantly, you will see how the App creates a continuous feedback and learning loop for pilots. As you will see, by making relevant flight data more accessible and useful to pilots, airlines can support greater pilot engagement, self-improvement, and alignment with key operational initiatives. Finally, you will hear real customer outcomes from operators such as Qantas and Malaysia Airlines, including fuel and carbon savings, such as 1.88m kg of fuel saved in the first year, a 15% increase in the adoption of fuel-saving procedures, and strong pilot adoption in the first months of use.

The Webinar is divided into the following 4 key sections:

  • GE Aerospace, SaaS Business Intro; The Flight Data Challenge; FlightPulse Overview
First the GE Aerospace, SaaS team will introduce their suite of digital solutions designed to support the aviation ecosystem, from Flight Operations and Safety with fuel efficiency and real-time pilot data apps to optimize each flight, to maintenance / Tech Ops with digital records, predictive maintenance, and more. You will then learn about the challenge at the heart of the session: airlines generate enormous amounts of flight data every day but making that data useful to the people actually operating the aircraft remains difficult. You will see how pilots often limited access to their historical flight data has, limited ability to compare and understand their own performance, and limited opportunity to learn from previous flights in a personalized way. You will see how FlightPulse answers this by giving pilots direct access to relevant data before and after each flight, organized around three ideas: Preparation before the flight, Review after it, and Improvement over time.

  • FlightPulse Demo 1: The Pilot Experience and Pre-flight
Next you will see how a line pilot prepares for an upcoming flight. Experts from GE SaaS will demo the home module and the everyday pilot experience, showing how quickly a pilot can get up and running, typically in three minutes or less. You will see how the pre-flight module gives pilots access to aggregated historical data from across the operation, so that they can analyze topical statistics and common safety events for a given route or airport and make the optimal fuel and safety decisions for the flight ahead. You will see realistic scenarios worked through in the app, showing how this data supports more informed fuel loading and stronger departure briefings. Key features will be highlighted, showcasing how the application familiarizes pilots with common threats and events for the flight, and how it presents easily digestible information through a user-friendly interface built around the decisions a pilot actually needs to make.

  • FlightPulse Demo 2: Post-flight, Playback and Performance
In this section, you will experience reviewing the flight once it is complete. This demo will highlight how the post-flight module gives each pilot secure, private access to the data from their own flight history, so they can see how they operated the aircraft and where they might improve. You will see how the flight can be contextualized with a focus on configurability, so that each pilot sees their own performance set against anonymized peer statistics and can benchmark themselves, understand where they excel, and identify where opportunities for improvement remain. You will see how FlightPulse highlights deviations from the planned route, so that pilots can understand where specific efficiency opportunities were missed or where increased safety risks were present. The advanced features you will see include the animation module, which plays back a previous flight with interactive controls rather than simply showing the raw data again, letting pilots debrief on safety events, review their technique, and consider operational risks. You will also see how performance is tracked over time, so that individual improvement and the adoption of fuel-saving procedures can be followed across many flights.

  • Configurability, Customer Outcomes
Finally, you will learn how FlightPulse is fully configurable to each airline. You will see how the Configuration Console lets managers craft the messaging and content displayed to pilots, so that the data stays interpretable and useful, and aligns with the airline’s own key initiatives and areas of interest, while each pilot’s individual data remains secure and private on their EFB device. You will also hear real customer outcomes from operators using FlightPulse, including the work with Qantas, where the post-flight and then the pre-flight modules were developed together with line pilots. Results to date include over 5.71 million kg of carbon emissions avoided and 1.88 million kg of fuel saved in the first year following adoption, a 15% increase in the adoption of fuel-saving procedures, and, at Qantas, half of pilots regularly using the app within the first two months.

The Webinar will close with a Live Q&A session.

About the Aircraft IT Webinar Series:

Every 2 weeks the Aircraft IT website hosts a different live Webinar, each Webinar hosted by a different IT Vendor. These sessions represent the perfect opportunity to learn about a software solution in a more informal manner and to quickly gain an in-depth knowledge of all the major systems on the market, all from the comfort of your own office or home with no sales pressure.

The IT vendor provides a live software demonstration/masterclass of their solution and explains how it can benefit airlines, MROs, Operators, OEMs, Leasing Companies. Once logged on, online delegates can ask questions via the interactive sections of the Webinar or simply sit back and watch and listen to the demonstration. There are two sessions during the day, each differently times to accommodate all time zones.

Each Webinar session is recorded, and an On-Demand version is then posted back to the Aircraft IT website a few days after the live session to allow you to view the content again with your colleagues. The library of On-Demand Webinar recordings provides an invaluable reference source of Flight Operations software demonstrations from the World’s leading Flight Operations IT Vendors.
