Real-Time Flight Path Optimizer Solution Demo and Overview Webinar

Register to view this On-Demand Webinar (recorded 28th January 2021) for an excellent chance to see a demo and full overview of CLEARPATH, the new real-time flight path / profile optimization solution from AVTECH. During the Webinar you will see how CLEARPATH combines real-time flight data (weight, used cost index, flight plan, active FMS route, etc.) with a sophisticated ground-based service that uses next-gen algorithms linked directly to the industry’s leading high-resolution global real-time weather model, to provide pilots with real-time vertical flight path optimization in-flight, significantly increasing flight efficiency and with the potential to reduce fuel-burn by up to 2%. As you will see the solution utilizes existing aircraft hardware and data communications (ACARS, ARINC, FMS, etc.), thus requiring no hardware, software or aircraft modifications, ensuring integration is easy and seamless for all airlines and aircraft operators of all fleet types worldwide.

AVTECH experts will walk you through a tour of CLEARPATH from a pilot’s perspective for a typical flight.  You will see how the solution delivers, in real-time, the key profile data and automatic reporting, to the flight deck via an EFB device or simply via the cockpit printer or display, providing pilots with the information they need to optimize in-flight step-climb/decent for the greatest efficiency gains.  During the Webinar you will also see an overview of aviation’s leading high-resolution weather model from the UK Met Office which provides CLEARPATH with most accurate, optimized 10k global weather, wind and temperature data. Finally, you will see a case study from Norwegian conducted in 2020 showing data from example flights, and how CLEARPATH optimized each flight based on aircraft performance parameters, actual flight route and high-resolution weather, to show a potential fuel saving of up to 2% of the cruise fuel.

The Webinar is divided into 4 key sections:

  • AVTECH Products and UK Met Office 10k Weather Model Overview:
The Webinar begins with an overview of AVTECH’s products and services developed to assist airlines to reduce costs by increasing efficiency and safety.  The UK Met Office will then present an overview of their industry leading high-resolution weather model providing optimized 10k global weather, wind and temperature data.  As you will see, tests have shown that the 10km grid resolution forecast, when compared to aviation standard of 140km grids, reduces wind and temperature errors by more than 50%.

  • Challenges Facing Pilots to Optimize Flight Profiles and CLEARPATH Overview:
Next AVTECH experts provide an overview of the challenges facing pilots today and the limitations in their operational environment both pre-flight and in-flight. Using the limited data from the flight management computer, pilots are unable to recalculate the profile in order to meet cost index, comply with ATC changes to the flight plan, or respond to changes to winds and weather.  You will then see a full overview of CLEARPATH, outlining how the solution assists pilots to overcome these challenges, and optimizing flight path efficiency in real-time, including: real-time aircraft communication; aircraft performance data capture; 10k global weather inputs; easy ground-based deployment and installation; using existing aircraft hardware and data communications; and how to optimize flight profile according to cost index.

  • CLEARPATH Demo from a Pilot’s Perspective on a Typical Flight:
Next you will be taken on a full overview and demo of CLEARPATH from a pilot’s perspective, including: how pilots receive the key optimized profile data via an EFB device or simply using the cockpit printer or display; automatic reporting providing decision support to pilots for selecting the most optimal flight level; making changes in-flight to the vertical flight path; how the solution improves overall efficiency and more.

  • CLEARPATH 2020 Case Study: Norwegian
Finally you will see a case study from Norwegian conducted in 2020 showing how CLEARPATH optimized each flight based on aircraft performance parameters, actual flight route and high-resolution weather, to show a potential fuel saving of up to 2% of the cruise fuel.  The case study will show data from example flights, the results, and an overview of the total benefits.
