AvioVision announces today that it has signed a long-term EFB agreement with Widerøe, the largest regional airline in the Nordic countries.

Widerøe’s Flyveselskap AS, trading as Widerøe, is a long established airline that operates a fleet of 42 Bombardier Dash 8 aircraft, serving domestic and international destinations. The airline was founded in 1934, and started with air shows, aviation schools, advertisement flights, cartography and other general aviation. Today, Widerøe has over 2,8 million passengers yearly, 1,500 employees and makes 450 take-offs and landings each day.

In 2012 Widerøe was awarded “Airline of the year 2012/2013” by the European Regions Airline Associations (ERA).

The introduction of an integrated class 2B EFB is a major step forward for Widerøe, says Helge Anonsen, Widerøe’s Deputy Director of Flight Operations and EFB administrator. We expect it to provide reduced workload for our pilots as well as both safety and financial benefits. Our demanding route structure and operational environment requires a tailored and robust EFB solution. We are confident that our cooperation with AvioVision will provide us with this”

“We are extremely happy to welcome Widerøe as a customer in our airline segment,” says Kris Van den Bergh, AvioVision’s CEO. “Widerøe is without a doubt a key European operator, and the fact that they have opted for AVIOBOOK®, knowing their challenging daily operating environment, in which they successfully run the largest regional fleet in the Nordic region, makes us very proud.”
