StorkJet’s Aircraft Performance Monitoring tool has become one of the key elements in LATAM Airlines’ fleetwide Fuel Efficiency program, helping the airline save an estimated USD 2.5 million annually while reducing almost 8,000 tons of CO2 emissions.

LATAM decided to take the use of flight data to the next level by partnering with StorkJet. Our team of engineers, specialized in aircraft performance and fuel efficiency, processed the QAR raw data and turned it into insights that enhance fuel planning – helping LATAM translate precision into cost savings and lower emissions.

The main goal of AdvancedAPM is to determine precise performance for each aircraft individually. By comparing the current condition of an aircraft against its factory-new performance, the system enables more accurate flight planning and reduced fuel burn.
AdvancedAPM also provides a breakdown of overall aircraft deterioration, with separate insights for engines and airframes. This information supports maintenance teams in identifying targeted actions that improve efficiency, such as engine washes or surface alignments.
For its Airbus fleet, LATAM has also adopted the Idle Descent module (IDLE Factor). This feature establishes the optimum top of descent, minimizes aerodynamic drag, and reduces engine usage – resulting in smoother, more efficient, glider-like approaches.
Together, these features enable LATAM’s 340 aircraft to fly with greater precision, efficiency, and sustainability by using the right data in the right way.
“It is impressive to see the impact that technology and innovation can achieve when applied with purpose. At LATAM, we are committed to continuing on this path.”
— Roberto Alvo, CEO LATAM Airlines
