First Electronic Flight Folder and Reporting Platform Approved for EFB Operations in Tanzania

International Flight Support (IFS) is pleased to announce that Precision Air, Tanzania’s leading privately owned scheduled airline, has selected EFBOne as its Electronic Flight Bag platform.

Following a successful assessment of Precision Air’s complete EFB solution by the Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA), the airline received its Letter of Authorization for EFB operations in July 2026. EFBOne was approved as one of the software applications forming part of the authorized EFB solution.

This represents a significant regulatory milestone, with EFBOne becoming the first Electronic Flight Folder and flight-reporting platform approved for operational use by an airline in Tanzania. The ability to meet the applicable TCAA requirements was an integral part of Precision Air’s selection and implementation process.

About Precision Air

Founded in 1991 and headquartered in Dar es Salaam, Precision Air is Tanzania’s largest privately owned scheduled airline.

Operating from Julius Nyerere International Airport, the airline serves destinations across Tanzania and the wider East African region using a fleet of ATR 42 and ATR 72 aircraft. Precision Air plays an important role in connecting Tanzania’s major cities, coastal destinations and island communities, including Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar, Kilimanjaro, Arusha and Seronera, as well as Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

Evaluation, Approval and Implementation

The EFBOne implementation was led by Lucas Mathew, Flight Operations Engineering Manager at Precision Air, who managed the evaluation, regulatory approval and operational introduction of the platform in close cooperation with the IFS team.

Obtaining approval from the Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority was a fundamental prerequisite for the introduction of the new EFB solution. IFS therefore worked closely with Lucas Mathew and the wider Precision Air team throughout the assessment process, supporting the airline in demonstrating that its proposed EFB environment met the applicable operational and regulatory requirements.

The project involved close collaboration between Precision Air’s Flight Operations and Engineering departments. The platform was assessed under operational conditions to confirm that it could support the airline’s workflows, administrative requirements and regulatory obligations.

The successful go-live represents the culmination of a comprehensive evaluation and implementation process and establishes a strong foundation for Precision Air’s continued digitalization of its flight operations.

“Selecting EFBOne as our Electronic Flight Bag software platform followed a comprehensive evaluation process in which regulatory compliance, operational capability, ease of administration and long-term reliability were key priorities.

We were impressed by EFBOne’s ability to meet both our operational requirements and the expectations of the Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority during the evaluation of our EFB solution.

From the initial engagement through implementation and go-live, the EFBOne team demonstrated professionalism, responsiveness and a strong commitment to supporting our project. The EFBOne administrator training conducted in Copenhagen was well structured and practical and provided our team with the knowledge and confidence required to manage the platform effectively.

Since implementation, EFBOne has significantly enhanced our cockpit operations by providing a more efficient, centralized and user-friendly digital environment. It has improved access to operational information and contributed to greater efficiency in our day-to-day flight operations.

We look forward to continuing our partnership with EFBOne as we further strengthen and develop our digital flight operations.”
