  • Eurowings is the first airline to implement the new NetLine/Crew Pairing Application from Lufthansa Systems
  • The cloud-native application combines advanced optimization, scenario evaluation, and an intuitive UI to improve crew pairing quality
  • Joint development and early user feedback shaped the solution’s intuitive design and functionality

Raunheim, 25th November 2025. Eurowings is the first airline to implement the newly released NetLine/Crew Pairing Application from Lufthansa Systems. As the launching customer, Eurowings is pioneering the deployment of a newly developed, optimizer-based solution for efficient and flexible crew planning. Already using the full NetLine and Lido product suites from Lufthansa Systems, the implementation of NetLine/Crew Pairing Application became a natural next step in Eurowings’ digital planning strategy.

With the integrated optimizer, Eurowings aims to improve crew rotation efficiency and reduce overall planning complexity — addressing one of the most cost-intensive areas in airline operations. The application enables a fast return on investment by combining advanced optimization technology with an intuitive interface. It allows crew planning teams to run multiple pairing evaluations in parallel, comparing results side by side to find the best solution. Comprehensive reporting features, including charts and KPIs, support data-driven decisions and improve transparency across planning teams.

“In an increasingly competitive and cost-sensitive airline industry, innovating and strengthening the planning process is not just a strategic choice — it’s a necessity for stronger operational management. We are proud to take this important step together with Eurowings. Their early involvement has been key to shaping this solution,” said Jan-Peter Gaense, Senior Vice President NetLine and SIRAX at Lufthansa Systems. “This launch also marks the beginning of a new generation of NetLine/Crew — smarter, more user-centric, and ready to meet the operational challenges of tomorrow.”

To support early adoption, Eurowings and Lufthansa Systems jointly developed a click-and-feel environment that allowed users to explore the interface and provide input from the earliest project phases. As the first renewed component of the NetLine/Crew suite, the application reflects the commitment of Lufthansa Systems to deliver cloud-native, optimizer-driven aviation IT solutions through close collaboration with their customers.
