November 4, 2013 (LONDON) – Navtech Inc., a leader in flight operations software and services, has named Robert Kernahan as Vice President, Charts and Navigation Data Production and General Manager UK.  Mr. Kernahan will direct the Hersham office location and multiple product production teams effective mid-November 2013.

Prior to joining Navtech, Mr. Kernahan was the Head of Dangerous Goods and Special Solutions for Lufthansa Cargo.  He managed the safe transport of all dangerous goods shipments out of the Frankfurt airport, in addition to the management of the ground handling services for all non-Lufthansa airlines.

Mr. Kernahan began his aviation career as an Air Traffic Controller for the US Military.  After seven years of commitment to the armed forces he held positions with Jeppesen, Swissair Flight Support and Lufthansa Systems. While at Jeppesen, Mr. Kernahan was the Principle AIP Analyst creating and managing the central source documentation for all AIP customers.  At Swissair Flight Support, Mr. Kernahan entirely rebuilt the Navigation Data team after all staff and management moved to a new company simultaneously and then served as Head of Production taking on full responsibility for the production of SFS Charting, NOTAM service, and their navigation database.

Upon joining Lufthansa’s Lido team, Mr. Kernahan formed the group’s strategy around product integration which led him to leadership roles in their Operational Data Services department.  From there, Mr. Kernahan directed both the Product Management and Product Development departments for Lido Flight Planning.

Mr. Kernahan is a FAA licensed Air Traffic Controller, rated in both tower and approach control facilities.  He also holds an MBA from the prestigious Ashridge Business School.
