AMOS making headway in Japan

Swiss-AS, in cooperation with Lufthansa Systems, are proud to announce that the airlines Japan Transocean Air (JTA), J-AIR and Ryukyu Air Commuter (RAC) have chosen AMOS as their joint aircraft maintenance management software.

“We are delighted to add JTA, J-AIR and RAC to our loyal customer base. This marks a mutual success for our close cooperation with Lufthansa Systems in the Asia-Pacific region,” states Ronald Schaeuffele, CEO of Swiss-AS.

AMOS has been represented in Singapore since April 2013. In cooperation with Lufthansa Systems, an AMOS business unit has been set up in Singapore to better reach customers in the Asia-Pacific region. The partnership has proven its worth during the common pre-sales phase and will certainly add value in the AMOS implementation process.

Regional airlines to jointly use AMOS

The three airlines, all subsidiaries of Japan Airlines, have decided to implement and use AMOS jointly in a single system environment to exploit synergy effects within the group. The project has kicked off in January 2014 with the aim of having AMOS up and running approximately twelve months thereafter.

“For the purpose of improving both efficiency and quality, we decided to make use of common maintenance management system among JTA, J-AIR and RAC. We are absolutely delighted to have an indispensable system as AMOS. It is of the utmost importance that we implement the cutting-edge system. Now, we can set sail for success in our business. Let’s join forces,” said Yoshinobu Oshiro, Executive Officer of Maintenance, JTA.

“With the introduction of AMOS that is actually used in operators all over the world, more improvement of operational quality as well as efficiency than ever is expected in our company,” said Koichi Yamamoto, Managing Director of Maintenance, RAC.

And Yasuhiro Takebayashi, Director of Maintenance, J-AIR, said “In order to grow further as a regional airline even in the situation of severe competition between airlines in Japan, J-AIR decided to introduce a state-of-the-art tool for aircraft maintenance to ensure more efficiency and safety.

As a result of careful consideration, AMOS turned out to be exactly what we’re looking for. By co-introducing AMOS with JTA and RAC, I also expect synergies of increasing the overall strength of the JAL Group.”

The project team is staffed by employees from the three airlines and the main project activities will take place in Okinawa. The key challenges are expected to be data cleansing and conversion from several legacy sources, as well as modelling and harmonisation of the desired joint processes. Backed by 25 years of experience in the domain of AMOS implementations, Swiss-AS looks forward to tackling the challenges we will face, and support the airlines in deploying AMOS.
