Aviovision, a Belgium-based EFB (Electronic Flight Bag) software provider announces today that it has signed a contract with Air Greenland, the flag carrier airline and one of the driving forces behind the development of the community of Greenland.

“Air Greenland has selected the AVIOBOOK® EFB solution because of its flexibility which matches our need to adapt to the sometimes difficult and extreme operational environment in which we are operating, and provides us with an ideal future platform completely integrated with our existing back-office systems which will allow us to further increase our operational efficiency”, Morten Nielsen, COO at Air Greenland said.

Air Greenland who has multiple fixed and rotary wing bases across Greenland, intends to implement the AVIOBOOK® EFB on a Class 1 iPad device, providing a maximum flexibility and user friendliness to its aircraft and helicopter flight crews. In addition theAVIOBOOK® BASE ground administration tool will serve the flight operations office staff to actively monitor the EFB devices and content, and will allow a seamless integration with Air Greenland’s current back-office operations systems.

Air Greenland A/S is the flag carrier airline of Greenland, owned by the Greenland Home Rule Government, SAS Group, and the government of Denmark. It operates a fleet of 38 aircrafts, 10 fixed-wing aircraft primarily serving the domestic network, and 26 helicopters feeding passengers from the smaller communities into the domestic airport network.

Founded in 1960 as Grønlandsfly, the majority of operations were based on helicopters until the newly- established Greenland Home Rule began investing in a network of short takeoff and landing airfields. The reliability of connections improved as the domestic airport network expanded in the 1990s: increasing use of the Dash 7s made the airline less restricted by inclement weather. In the late 1990s and early 2000s, Air Greenland acquired a Boeing 757 and an Airbus A330, airliners allowing it to open connections to Copenhagen.

Besides running scheduled services and government-contracted flights to most villages in the country, the airline also supports remote research stations, provides charter services for tourists and Greenland’s energy and mineral-resource industries. For more information, please visit:
