EASA E-170 EFB STC for navAero
–t∙Bag™C22 System

Sundsvall, Sweden October 6, 2014 — navAero announces the issuance of Supplementary Type Certificate (STC)  10050412 by European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) that allows for the installation of provision of the t∙Bag™C22 Electronic Flight Bag system for Embraer E-170 series aircraft.

This certification is another of the highly integrated STCs for the navAero t∙Bag™C22 EFB system. The system architecture includes cross-connectivity between the EFB CPUs that provides for data sharing between the two independent systems. Each CPU also features the navAero-designed UMTS/HSDPA 3G cellular modem and 802.11b/g WiFi module for on-ground data transfer.

Also included in the system architecture and certification is the navAero Aircraft Interface Device (AID) that enables certified connectivity of the EFB system to the aircraft ARINC 429 data bus as well as discretes. The STC also provides flexibility for utilizing either the t∙Pad™ 1500 or the t∙Pad™ 2000 display to provide customers with maximum flexibility in selecting the optimum viewing platform to meet their specific requirements and needs.

For E-170 operators who desire a tablet EFB system, the STC can be immediately amended via a Minor Change to accommodate virtually any tablet device.

navAero Group President, Mr. Simone Giordano, states “While this certification project was one of the most challenging we have recently executed due to the design requirements imposed by the Embraer cockpit, we achieved our goal and created a solution that meets the highest safety standards imposed by EASA. And with the display and connectivity options we have provided in this STC, we are providing E-170 operators with the ability to deploy a highly customized and robust technical EFB solution that will meet a wide range of specific needs and requirements especially in regard to data connectivity.”
