Air Transat implements Fuel Efficiency software from Aviaso

Zurich, Switzerland – 20 April 2015 – Air Transat signed an agreement with Aviaso for the implementation of the Aviaso/Fuel Efficiency software. Already in 2003, Air Transat started a fuel management program having stringent measures for management of fuel consumption, adjustments to operations, and investments in technology. Now, Air Transat ranks as the most climate-efficient airline in North America, based on the comprehensive evaluation carried out by NGO Atmosfair.

“We already have one of the best fuel-management programs in the industry,” says Jean-François Lemay, General Manager, Air Transat. “Implementing this system developed by Aviaso gives us the means to improve our practices and further refine our program, with the goal of reducing fuel burn by another 1%.”

Keith Lawless, Senior Director, Business Sustainability and Improvement, Air Transat, says: “We were looking for an easy-to-implement and cost effective solution that would smoothly integrate with our existing IT systems. Another important criteria to select Aviaso was that the software was already in productive use at several airlines and has demonstrated positive measurable results for those airlines.”

The implementation of the software is underway and will be completed within the next two months. “The project planning is very well thought out, and so far, we are very happy how the implementation is progressing,” adds Keith Lawless.

The fuel efficiency software from Aviaso includes more than 100 ready-made analysis reports. These reports allow an airline to thoroughly understand their fuel consumption and to identify potential fuel savings. Furthermore, the Aviaso solution not only identifies the fuel savings, but also helps in really achieving these savings by rigorously monitoring the various fuel savings initiatives for each and every flight. In addition, the software also provides comprehensive reporting to ensure full compliance with the EU Emissions Trading System legislation.

“We are excited to have our first North American client with Air Transat,” says Rudolf Christen, CEO of Aviaso. “Air Transat is one of the world-wide leaders in fuel conservation as recognized by several independent organizations. It is a huge compliment that Air Transat has decided to work with us.”
