Web Manuals gets personal with Reader App upgrades
EBACE, Geneva, Switzerland; May 25, 2023: Web Manuals, the world leader in aviation document digitization solutions, is introducing enhanced personalization options in its latest Reader App upgrade.

The update comes with connectivity recognition – a built-in connectivity choice – allowing the user to define when the app is perceived as ‘online’. Users can choose whether to run downloads on Wi-Fi and Cellular data or only when Wi-Fi is connected.
Additional functionality improvements will allow users to personalize their app experience with screen customization and thumb navigation, enabling faster transition between documents that are unique to the user. Updated tab functions will enable smoother transition between current working documents, as well as the ability to move back and forth between manual amendments.
Advanced dark mode places a dark filter on images to avoid reverting colors on the device. In combination with the brightness slider, pilots are now able to use their device during overnight flights without losing night vision, amplifying the app’s readability and flight safety.
Julia Larsson, Director of Operations EMEA, Web Manuals says: “The latest updates to our Reader App will make it even easier to download, read, and stay updated on crucial documents that are specific to each customer’s operations.
“This app revision has been long anticipated and is a direct result of feedback from our community. For example, we’ve incorporated larger navigation bars to make manuals accessible for pilots experiencing turbulence in the cockpit.”
Web Manuals is exhibiting on Booth L97 at EBACE 2023 and live demonstrations of the updated software are available. The app is available to download on iOS and an Android version is currently in development.

Malmö, Sweden, May 24, 2023: Web Manuals, the world leader in digital documentation for the aviation industry, is cementing its European stronghold with more than 60% of customers enrolling since January 2023 being based in the continent.
Further to this, almost a third of the 37 organizations that joined Web Manuals’ community in 2023 are business jet operators in Europe, and more than 45% new bizjets have joined globally so far this year. This demonstrates the industry’s ongoing appetite to digitize their operations, which is complemented by the vast range of compliance-based applications for Web Manuals’ portfolio.
Julia Larsson, Director of Operations EMEA, Web Manuals, says: “The demand for Web Manuals across the European business aviation industry represents the growing desire for digitalisation within safety and compliance monitoring, as well as the increasing number of regulations that operators need to manage effectively. It shows that operators are ready to take their document digitization to the next level, eliminating the burden and safety implications of having to update their documentation manually.”
As of May 2023, Web Manuals’ total global client base is 535. The company is headquartered in Malmo, Sweden, and has offices in New York, San Diego, and Singapore.
BCT Aviation Maintenance signs up for Rusada’s ENVISION

DERBY, UNITED KINGDOM: Base and line maintenance provider, BCT Aviation Maintenance (BCT), has signed up for Rusada’s maintenance software solution ENVISION.
BCT offer a wide range of maintenance services from both their headquarters at East Midlands Airport (EMA) and line stations across the UK and Ireland. This includes base and line maintenance, livery & paint support, and end of lease services for airlines and operators worldwide.
Until now, BCT relied on a system of spreadsheets and paper records to manage their operations, but the lack of cross-department visibility this provided led to them seeking a fully digitized solution.
“As our business continues to grow and we expand our Base Maintenance capability we developed a need for a high-quality solution for our maintenance software requirements and decided ENVISION is the best fit for our business” said Chris Taylor, Technical Director at BCT. “We are excited to see the benefits ENVISION will bring to all aspects of BCT Aviation Maintenance by providing a clear view of our operating protocols, from commercial engagement with potential customers to our own operational day to day needs, and all the way through to customer billing. We are looking forward to working with everyone at Rusada and getting started on the implementation process.”
Rusada’s in-house implementation specialists will now begin the deployment of ENVISION’s Base & Line MRO, Inventory Management, Human Resources, and Quality & Safety modules with an aim to go live later this year.
Julian Stourton, CEO at Rusada commented “BCT have been incredibly successful over the last few years, and their client portfolio speaks for itself.
“It is no small project upgrading your maintenance IT systems, but the rewards vastly outweigh the effort, and if you pick the right partner to guide you through it then it can be much less painful than you think.”

Flair Airlines and FLYHT Partner for Fuel Efficiency and Greenhouse Gas Emissions-related Hardware and Services

Flair Orders AFIRS Edge Hardware and SaaS Services for its Entire Fleet of Boeing 737-8 MAX Aircraft
CALGARY, ALBERTA – June 25, 2023. Today, Flair Airlines, Canada’s leading independent ultra-low-cost airline, and FLYHT Aerospace Solutions Ltd. (TSX-V: FLY) (OTCQX: FLYLF), an aerospace technology company, announced an agreement for the purchase of FLYHT’s innovative hardware and services. FLYHT will enable Flair to closely monitor its fuel and greenhouse gas emissions for every phase of flight operations, including when an aircraft is at the gate, taxiing, at idle, during takeoff and at cruise. The data allows Flair to find opportunities to increase fuel efficiency and reduce the carbon footprint on its fleet of Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.
The two companies are headquartered in Alberta, Canada, with Flair headquartered in Edmonton, and FLYHT headquartered in Calgary. Flair Airlines serves dozens of cities across Canada, the U.S., and Mexico with an ultra-low-cost model and an expanding fleet of Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.
“Flair is Canada’s greenest airline, and so we are excited to initiate this program with FLYHT, whose AFIRS Edge suite of products support our greenhouse gas emissions tracking and aggressive reductions targets,” said Stephen Jones, President and CEO of Flair Airlines. “We’re proud to support a fellow Albertan aerospace company, headquartered in Calgary, which is a new base of operations for us and one of increasing importance. We also look forward to realizing benefits from the resulting improvements in operational insight and efficiencies in both customer service and on time performance.”
“This order is a significant milestone for FLYHT as we have now formally begun to commercialize our innovative 5G-enabled AFIRS Edge solution,” said Kent Jacobs, President and Interim CEO of FLYHT. “We look forward to supporting Flair Airlines as they seek to take full advantage of the power of our real-time data solutions to support their decision making.”
This is the first agreement for FLYHT’s AFIRS Edge product to be installed on a Boeing 737 Max aircraft. The AFIRS Edge is an industry-first, 5G-enabled, wireless quick access recorder, which transmits data on the ground through cellular networks. The AFIRS Edge also provides aircraft interface device functionality and allows for remote system configuration and health management as well as over-the-air updates.
The agreement includes recurring SaaS for ClearPort, FuelSense, and AFIRS Gateway services. ClearPort is a turn management optimizer that helps improve on time performance and provides Auxiliary Power Unit fuel burn management. By maximizing the efficiency of turns, aircraft utilization can be increased and continual improvement opportunities can be identified. FuelSense provides insight into how airlines are performing against their operational standards, providing additional guidance towards fuel efficiency and emissions reductions. Finally, the AFIRS Gateway system provides a portal for data and device configuration, distribution, and management.
The contract is valued at approximately US$3.6 million, provided that all products and services are delivered over the 5-year term of the agreement. FLYHT’s AFIRS Edge products were developed with the support of Alberta Innovates and with repayable funding support from PrairiesCan through its Western Innovation Initiative.

Rusada and Conduce form Strategic Partnership on Paperless Technologies

AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS: Aircraft maintenance software provider Rusada and mobile solutions specialist Conduce have agreed to a strategic partnership at the Airline & Aerospace MRO & Flight Operations IT Conference in Amsterdam.
The partnership will see the two companies join forces on projects requiring both a maintenance software solution and an eTechLog solution. Rusada and Conduce have previously worked together on a number of projects, including their current joint deployment at cargo operator Texel Air. The partnership agreed today, which included the signing of an ‘e-contract’ on a mobile device, formalizes the company’s working relationship, and sets targets for future joint projects.
“A key aim of this partnership is to make the transition to paperless processes more accessible and affordable for aircraft operators around the globe” states Richard Landsbury, Sales Director at Rusada. “The combination of our two systems allows users to conduct much of their operations without using a single sheet of paper.”
The paperless processes in question are achieved by connecting Rusada’s ENVISION solution to Conduce’s eTechlog8 through a Representational State Transfer (REST) application programming interface, which allows for the seamless transmission of data between the two, in real time.
A typical scenario would see ENVISION scheduling the flight and assigning it to an aircraft. This information would then be transmitted to eTechlog8, where the line maintenance team would perform pre-flight checks using a mobile device, before transferring responsibility of the aircraft to the pilot. The aircraft would then fly the sector, with the pilot completing the journey log and recording any defects before handing back to the line maintenance team. Journey logs would then be transmitted to ENVISION to be recorded against the aircraft and its components, along with any defects. Corrective maintenance could then be planned, executed, and signed-off using ENVISION and its apps.
“The Conduce mobile aviation solutions have been developed to allow for easy data transfer across multiple airline engineering and flight operations systems.” adds Paul Boyd, Managing Director at Conduce. “Strategic partnerships such as this enable airlines to select the best of breed applications across their business. The systems integration with Rusada’s ENVISION will provide customers with the real time operational and maintenance status of their fleets wherever their location.”

Scandinavian Avionics implements iQSMS Reporting Module to ensure compliance with the new EASA requirements.
Scandinavian Avionics, an internationally renowned provider of avionics solutions, has implemented the iQSMS Reporting Module to ensure compliance with the new EASA requirements. Not just in their Part-145 and Part-21 departments as required. But throughout the entire organization.
iQSMS. A web-based, integrated aviation Quality and Safety Management software developed by ASQS. The system helps optimize reporting processes within organizations.
Scandinavian Avionics (SA) is one of those organizations. The international provider of avionics, electronics, training, and interior solutions for the civil and military aviation industry has adopted the iQSMS Reporting Module to anchor safety across SA and rest of The SA Group, including Part-145, Part-21, and Part-147.
A Just Culture
EASA Part-145.A.202 mandates that maintenance organizations implement a safety reporting scheme in terms of identification of hazards and safety risk management. iQSMS supports the entire reporting process by offering flexibility through its online and offline capabilities.
The system enables SA to customize reporting forms and report anonymously. This helps to ensure a just culture which breaks down barriers and empowers both administrative personnel and technical staff to share vital safety information. Easily and without reservation.
It Takes a Village
iQSMS ensures compliance with EASA regulations, thus enabling SA to effectively capture safety-related data and proactively identify, assess, and mitigate risks.
However, this is only possible if the entire organization is on board.
“We have made the decision to implement SMS in our entire Group. From our perspective, safety management is not just an EASA requirement. Safety is a mindset which should resonate with all employees. Only then can we ensure a just culture where everyone is dedicated to reporting hazards, risks, and procedures which may affect safety in our organization,” says Michael R. Truelsen, CEO at Scandinavian Avionics.
The reporting system supports a sound reporting and safety culture throughout all departments across The SA Group and promotes continuous improvements by enabling staff and personnel to become ambassadors of safety.
The collaboration between Scandinavian Avionics and iQSMS further emphasizes the importance of prioritizing safety and employing advanced technologies to improve safety management throughout the entire organization.
Airlink opts for various Lido Solutions from Lufthansa Systems

- The South African passenger and cargo airline opts for flight operations solutions Lido Flight 4D, Lido mPilot, and Lido AODS
- Airlink (Pty) Limited chose Lufthansa Systems, because they offer their solutions as a one-stop-shop service
- Lufthansa Systems enters into the Southern African market
Raunheim 1st June, 2023. Lufthansa Systems announced its new partnership with Airlink (Pty) Limited and its entry into a new market: Southern Africa. Airlink (Pty) Limited, a South African airline, opted for Lufthansa Systems’ flight operations products Lido Flight 4D, Lido mPilot and Lido Airport Obstacle Data Service (AODS). Airlink (Pty) Limited opted for Lufthansa Systems because they provide their solutions as a one-stop-shop service.
With Lido Flight 4D, a highly effective, interactive flight planning solution, Airlink (Pty) Limited will optimise its routes by taking current flight-related data into account, such as fuel consumption, costs and flying time. Lido Flight 4D enables individual optimization of flight phases and offers a range of automation options. The solution is equipped with advanced features including real-time data updates, weather data integration, and fuel price updates, providing accurate and up-to-date flight plans.
The pilot solution Lido mPilot will enable Airlink (Pty) Limited to increase the safety and efficiency of their pilots’ operations. Lido’s all-in-one charting application offers easy access to terminal charts, a dynamically generated enroute map, an Airport Moving Map, as well as all required operational documents. The charts are generated electronically by using a worldwide geographic information database as well as all necessary aeronautical source data, making them precise and of high quality.
With Lufthansa Systems’ data solution Lido AODS, Airlink’s pilots can optimize their take-offs and landings on the electronic flight bag (EFB). Since Lido AODS provides the pilots with all required current information about the runway and airport, they can ensure that the planned runway is suitable for the aircraft type and current load. This is particularly important in the event of an engine failure, when the pilot must decide if it is safe to land. By analysing data from certified resources worldwide, Lido AODS ensures the accuracy of its data.
“We are delighted to partner with Lufthansa Systems,” said Captain Tammy King, Executive Manager of Operations at Airlink (Pty) Limited. “The additional features prioritise safety during take-offs and landings whilst focussing on optimising the economic efficiency of every aspect of our flight routings. Lufthansa Systems’ Lido Solutions will provide us with state of art technology to further enhance Airlink’s operational processes and procedures.”
“We are pleased to welcome Airlink (Pty) Limited as a valued customer of our Lido Solutions. Through this partnership we not only gain a reliable partner, but also enter the South African market – a market with a lot of potential, that will open up great new opportunities for us,”
Marco Cesa, SVP Regional Management EMEA at Lufthansa Systems.
