Royal Air Maroc takes off with AMOS
AMOS to support the company restructuring process
Swiss-AS and Royal Air Maroc (RAM) recently signed agreements to implement AMOS at the Moroccan flag carrier. By launching an RFP process, followed by onsite software presentations in Casablanca, RAM was looking for an MRO software that is capable of supporting the company’s restructuring strategy. Increasing personnel productivity and process optimization in the E&M sector are the main objectives. The implementation of a state-of-the-art MRO software will ultimately result in reduced aircraft operating costs. Being a full-fledged and highly integrated software that is suitable to fulfil the activities of technical departments, AMOS was chosen as RAM’s favourite M&E software system.
Royal Air Maroc premiers as North African AMOS community member
The go-live should take place approximately ten to twelve months after kick-off. During that time 100 back-office users and more than 200 technical staff will be familiarized with AMOS and trained to use the MRO software in the context of the then newly-introduced maintenance processes. A considerable number of Swiss-AS employees are fluent in French and this will be a considerable advantage during the project as well as in the post-go-live phase.
“It is a pleasure to welcome RAM, our first customer from North Africa, into the AMOS community. With the delivery of the B787 fleet, RAM will benefit from AMOS’ advanced functions, which address the specific needs of new generation aircraft,“ says Ronald Schaeuffele, CEO of Swiss-AS.

Popularity of Navtech Flight Plan ascending
December 18, 2013 (TORONTO) – Navtech Inc., a leader in flight operations software and services continues to experience success with their leading edge Navtech Flight Plan (NFP) product. Commercial airlines from around the world have committed to Navtech as a best-of-breed provider which confirms the operational return and reliability experienced by customers and validates Navtech’s reputation for excellent customer service.
“Managing costs, providing operational flexibility, and solving complex optimization problems are all challenges that our flight planning tool meets head on,” said Mr. Bill Macey, Product Director, Flight Planning at Navtech. “Customers implementing NFP experience increased productivity, reduced operational costs and the ability to use a tool designed for the challenges of today and tomorrow. NFP is developed with the intention of easing the dispatcher/flight planner’s workload, while at the same time evolving to accommodate the self-dispatch movement. Navtech chooses flight planning partners which focus on similar challenges and we are pleased with where we are heading.”
Nolinor Aviation is a growing air charter company operating in Canada with a focus on Arctic Operations. “We recently signed a multi-year NFP renewal contract with Navtech which also employs aircraft performance tools, Navtech TODC and Navtech AODB. Navtech Operations Departments’ customer service ability to respond to our calls around the clock is just one reason why we’ve used Navtech software for over ten years now,” said Yves Bergeron, Director of Flight Operations at Nolinor.
Growing regional airline Sky Regional Airlines is also a new flight planning customer for Navtech. The regional carrier, operating 100+ flights daily for Air Canada Express with the addition of the EMB 175 to their fleet, will use NFP to produce flight plans and optimize their fuel efficiency. European airline Ellinair is also experiencing the benefits of the cost-effective solution NFP. The airline secured a multi-year contract with Navtech and also takes advantage of Navtech’s innovative aircraft performance tools.
“Ellinair, a new airline with the International Airport of Thessaloniki as a home base is planning to take off in the next while to service major Greek cities. We are glad that as a new airline we have next to us such a serious company, a very reliable partner with big experience and quality product support as Navtech,” said Mr. Athanasios Nikoglou, Ground Operations Manager at Ellinair. “From my experience of years working for another airline that had multiple Navtech products, now that we are starting up in such a hard operation environment we will trust the quality products of Navtech counting to solve operational issues with the professional support of a reliable partner.”
Navtech Flight Plan provides complete control over managing mission critical resources. The updated browser-based user interface allows for dynamic route construction functionality and optimization capabilities. Navtech’s fuel burn calculations feature algorithms that allow users to produce optimized flight plans between any given airport pair, taking all regulatory restrictions into consideration. With its advanced route construction tools, NFP is the natural choice for creating routes in complicated airspace as NFP utilizes the power of the browser to create crisp, clear readouts of the flight plan.
Navtech is also experiencing success in the Asian commercial market and have signed Australia’s Airnorth and Tokyo-based Vanilla Airlines to NFP services for multiple years. Vanilla Air, who starts flying commercially at the end of December, is looking forward to using NFP. “For us there are three main points of merit to NFP that swayed our interest to Navtech: the short-term implementation period, the low implementation costs and that the tool is very compatible with our users’ skill sets and knowledge,” said Keisuke Nakamichi, ICT Department at Vanilla Air. These scheduled carriers will be able to take more control of their flight planning with NFP as it utilizes advanced weather data to calculate accurate fuel burns, and improved automation allows the airline to recognize NFP as a major component of their operational control solution. The automated functionality of NFP also allows them to set the level of automation that suits their operation and goals.
