SUNDSVALL, SWEDEN October 11, 2013 — navAero announces achievement of the issuance of Supplementary Type Certificate (STC) 10046400 by European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) for Boeing 747-400 series aircraft of the t∙Bag™C22 Electronic Flight Bag system.

Executed by navAero in cooperation with Aero Vodochody Aerospace A.S., this certification is another of the highly integrated STCs for the navAero t∙Bag™C22 Class 2 EFB system. This STC is a compliment to existing FAA STC ST026551NY for the B747-400. The system architecture in the EASA STC includes the navAero-designed, AT&T-certified, UMTS/HSDPA 3G cellular modem module for on-ground data transfer. Also included in the certification is the navAero Aircraft Interface Device (AID) that enables certified connectivity of the EFB system to aircraft data buses. The EFB CPUs are deployed with cross-connectivity to provide data sharing between the two independent systems. The STC also provides several different display options including the t∙Bag™ 1500 and t∙Bag™ 2000 to provide customers with maximum flexibility in selecting the optimum viewing platform to meet their specific requirements and needs.

The STC also includes provisions that allow for the deployment the navAero iPad/Tablet EFB system as an alternative technology solution to the t∙Bag™C22. The iPad/Tablet deployment can also incorporate the navAero AID into the system architecture for data connectivity. The issuance of this STC by EASA further validates navAero EFB systems as affordable Class 2 technology platforms fully capable of deploying advanced software that require aircraft data connectivity.

navAero Group Executive Vice President, Mr. Simone Giordano, states “This accomplishment is our twenty-fifth STC and the another of the highly complex integrated certifications for our Class 2 EFB systems. Having both the EASA and FAA STCs, navAero is now able to give B747-400 operators around the world the opportunity a choice of highly sophisticated, safety-enhancing EFB technologies on the flight deck at an affordable cost.”

Giordano continued: “With the options we have provided in this STC, we are providing operators with the ability to deploy a highly customized navAero EFB solution that will meet their own unique and specific needs and requirements. This further supports our company’s business focus of providing customized, customer-directed solutions rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.”
