Leading North American Airline with largest Fleet Size in the region. The Airline was using MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul) System consisting of two segments: ASI Materials Management: Consists of many sub-systems viz., Purchasing, Material Request, Inventory Planning & Control,Accounts Payable& Receivables, Dock to Stock, Demand Forecasting, Cost Management, Customer Invoicing etc

M & RC for Maintenance functions: Consists of Design Engineering, Configuration Management, MRO, Line Maintenance and Heavy Maintenance Planning & Scheduling, Shop Floor, Labor Availability Planning etc.

Business Need:

The airline wanted to outsource the maintenance support and enhancement of the MRO system. Additionally, the need was to integrate the MRO system with other satellite systems.

Solution:

Hexaware leveraged its rich experience in airline solutions and mainframe technology for maintenance and enhancement of the legacy based MRO system. Since the application comprised more than 3500 programs, allocation of experienced functional and technical experts was instrumental in meeting the requirements. The system was maintained and enhanced using offshore/onshore model.Complete testing service was provided before handing over the changes.

Methodology:

  • Introduced the Configuration Control Project to validate parts in Install and Remove function with Design Engineering Product Structure and to prevent wrong part from getting installed or removed.
  • Added E-Signature functionality to place a better control on authentication by Shop Floor users.
  • Added Advanced WIPD (Work In Progress Document) printing process to the current Shop Floor printing facilities.
  • Updated PME (Part Maintenance Event) function to make PME mandatory. Once a PME is made mandatory, the execution of that PME is mandatory for the Work Order to be processed successfully.
  • Developed a Tool to Mask a Task for Engineering and Shop Floor users. The users were provided with the functionality to “mask” a ask so that the masked tasks would not be approved with the package.

Maintenance

The system was maintained and enhanced using Mainframe technology, CICS, COBOL, DB2, Focus and VB. A team of 7 offshore and 2 onshore resources were deployed for this engagement.
